Enshittification is usually about how online marketplaces like Airbnb, Amazon, etc get shitter over time.

The Enshittification Process

It’s actually a well thought out process which is:

1. Marketplaces offer a great service by taking a loss. This attracts demand.
   1. How Amazon never made a profit for 10 years, free returns, great service etc.
2. Once user demand is locked in, companies focus on supply side. They allow suppliers to gain access to said demand.
   1. E.g. how Amazon opened up Amazon Marketplace.
3. Monopoly market is created, shareholders are pleased.
   1. E.g. Free returns are eroded, shipping becomes paid via Prime. Prime costs go up. Shitter sellers are allowed to sell fake products via Marketplace selling.
